US.- Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported that the sports betting handle in the state was $574.2m in April, marking an 11.8 per cent increase compared to the previous year. Of this total, $566.1m was wagered online, while $8.1m was placed at retail locations. Total payouts amounted to $511.1m, with operators retaining 11.0 per cent of the handle. Taxable winnings reached $45.9m.
The sports betting industry contributed $9.1m to state funds, with $6.9m directed to the Blueprint Fund and $2.3m allocated to the General Fund from mobile betting proceeds. Since the launch of sports betting in December 2021, a cumulative $264m has been contributed to the Blueprint Fund.
In April, the six casinos in Maryland collectively earned $172.2m from slot machines and table games, reflecting a 5.9 per cent year-on-year growth—the highest monthly figure for fiscal year 2026 so far. This surpasses March’s revenue of $168.1m.
